A real Sleeper! Not in Zagats, but don't let that stop you! Um!Um! good!
What to Get: Garlic bread comes with most meals, Bourbon Boneless Ribs, Steamed Clams, Broiled Chilean Sea Bass, Side dish: any Mofongo w/sauce.
Additional Tips: Tapas-Style Grilled Mojito Shrimp Skewers: good garlicky flavor; but overcooked; I recommend; just ask for a bit less time on the grill, Atmosphere Eh; it's about the food, subway access, but parking is a challenge

Vanessa's Dumplings
Quick, cheap bites at Vanessa's Dumplings in the lower east side. We had a sesame pancake sandwich with egg, 8 boiled vegetable dumplings with hot sauce, a pork and cabbage bun, and kimchi - all for $8. This place is constantly bustling.
The bread on the sesame pancake was delicious and I think this was the best thing to come back for.
This was my first time eating at the place, but I have come by before to buy frozen dumplings to cook at home, which were equally as delicious.

Bayou Restaurant
Delicious chicken po'boy sandwich! The chef has been here for 20 years and the restaurant was full - great signs for quality. Delicious spicy crawdads and full-bodied gumbo.

City Limits
Retro style diner with an eclectic and tasty menu. There were japanese dishes, mexican food, burgers, steaks, soups. I had a encrusted tuna salad with soy-ginger sauce. On the way out, there were several desserts tempting us. Mmmm, Linzer cookies.

Afghan Dumplings
Khyber Pass was listed as a place to check out on the dumpling tour in October in the lower east side. Dim lights and hookah added to the ambiance. We ordered a salad and lamb dumplings, which came with a tasty yogurt sauce. Loved it! Want to go back and try other things on the menu.

L&B Spumoni Gardens. Whoa!
Family style, Sicilian food and lots of it. The size of the dishes, both appetizers and entrees, are huge!
We ordered off the menu, rice balls and broccoli rabe to start, three pasta dishes, an eggplant/cheese entree, and a bottle of wine. I have to admit that my pasta dish was quite tasteless.
The portions left us reeling! While we were eating the chef came by to give us another bottle of the same wine we were drinking that he accidentally opened. He chastised us for ordering off the menu and told us to order from the Chef's menu in the future. During the course of our meal he brought out three different appetizers for us to try and sent us a dessert on the house. True italian hospitality !
Probably won't go back for the entrees, but am curious about their pizza.
